Annie gives The Guardian a guided tour of Oslo, and London

August 27th, 2008

I just discovered a couple of videos up on guardian.co.uk, in which Annie gives a guided tour of Oslo, Norway, and Annie gives a guided tour of London. Annie is her usual charming self as she shows us her favorite features of these cities.

New: Annie Articles Archive

August 27th, 2008

I have created a new category of posts called Annie Articles. In this category, you will find links to articles that talk about Annie. When I create a post in that category, I will set the date to be the date of the article, not the date that I posted about it on this site. That way you will be able to look through the archive and find the articles in chronological order.

I will be adding articles to that category bit by bit, so keep checking it for new additions. I will work on making it possible to choose a month or year or day and see all the Annie articles from that time.

If you have links to Annie articles, feel free to post them in a comment on this site, and I will add the articles when I get a chance. :)

Annie in Finnish music magazine Rumba

August 26th, 2008

Annie is in a recent issue of Finnish music magazine Rumba. I couldn’t find the article about Annie on the web site. I’ll keep looking for more information!

Annie recorded two new songs and an intro

August 18th, 2008

According to Annie’s latest MySpace post, she’s back in Berlin after going to London to record two new songs and an intro for Don’t Stop. She seems pleased with the result. She also found out they sell her favorite Panda licorice candies in London, so she isn’t ruling out London as a place she could live someday. Candy availability is an extremely important part of deciding where to live, after all!

I’m glad Annie enjoys working in the studio. She seems to have a positive attitude about the recent turn of events with the album delay and having to go back to the studio. I hope it will all work out for the best.

Annie gets a mention in this Sunday Times article about the new wave of female pop artists. She’s on the third page of the article.

Here’s a video of Annie performing Heartbeat at the Uuden Musiikin Festivaali in Kupittaa Park, Turku, Finland. Be sure to check out the UMF5 Flickr Photo Pool, too. Annie’s in some of the photos!

Rumor Has It that Don’t Stop will be delayed until early 2009

August 14th, 2008

The word on the PopJustice forum is that the release date for Annie’s album Don’t Stop has been pushed into early 2009. Argh! I couldn’t be more frustrated with this bit of news.

It’s these big record labels, obsessed with money, money, money. Island Records must consider Annie to be a gamble. They want to recoup the money they invested in her. They’re playing her like a pawn in a chess game, trying to pick a safe release date for her album, cramming her back into a studio to churn out more “hits”. Well, forget that!

Annie needs more promotion. Tons of it. Her music needs to be everywhere. Unavoidable. More people need to hear her music and realize its true awesomeness. That’s where fans could help her out. Set your ringtone to an Annie song. Play Annie songs on your computer at work. Make your own Annie posters and post them everywhere. Drum up interest. You can do it! You should!

Annie will be at Ekkofest

August 13th, 2008

Annie is listed as a headlining act at Norway’s Ekkofest. The concert will be on 5 and 6 September. You can buy tickets for the individual days, or get a two-day pass. If you’re in Norway, tickets are available in Posten, Narvesen and 7-11. A festival pass is 600 KR and a day pass for each day is 350 KR. There will be a pre-party on 4 September at NG2 (which seems to be a student café in the academic quarter of Bergen.) The festival itself will take place in Bergen, Norway. The venue is USF Verftet (here’s a map). Find out more about Ekkofest on the MySpace page.

Annie Photos from Slottsfjellfestivalen. Also, Annie back in the studio, in London.

August 13th, 2008

Here’s an article with photos of Annie at the Slottsfjellfestivalen (a music festival) in Tønsberg, Norway (photos by Eirik Lande). Also here is an article in Norwegian about Annie at Slottsfjellfestivalen. I don’t know Norwegian, so I can’t tell you what it says. You can pop over to Google Translate and try your luck with their translation of the page, but the output is a little esoteric.

Also, Annie posted a journal entry on her MySpace page wherein she says that she went to London to record some new songs, which unfortunately is a sign that the rumor is possibly true that her record label has made her go back to the studio to record some new songs, which, if true, might just be a sign that the record label was not satisfied with the sales of I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me.

I have to say that I thought it was poorly thought-out to have I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me be the lead single. It’s not a bad song, but it doesn’t have the kind of ultra-pop power that that would make hordes of people buy Annie’s records. My Love Is Better or Songs Remind Me Of You is a more likely candidate. Maybe they wanted to do My Love Is Better first but they couldn’t because of Girls Aloud’s record label’s insistence that Girls Aloud not be on the song anymore. What a blow to Annie! It is so not fair! These things happen, though, I guess! I wish that I, as a fan, could do more to help her out. I have the Annie News Corner though, so maybe that’s something, eh?

Annie back in the studio?

August 8th, 2008

I have heard that Annie’s record label is making her go back to the studio to record some new songs for Don’t Stop. That’s why it’s been pushed to October. Doesn’t sound good.
